Azithromycin 250mg Tablets - Patient Information
USAGE
Azithromycin tablets are a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat specific bacterial infections in adults and children (typically over a certain weight). It works by stopping bacteria from growing.
CRITICAL SAFETY INFORMATION:
· For Bacterial Infections Only: This medication is not effective against viral infections such as the common cold or influenza.
· Antibiotic Resistance: Taking antibiotics unnecessarily increases the risk of developing antibiotic-resistant infections in the future.
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION
· Prescription Only: Take exactly as directed by your doctor. The dose and duration are based on the type and severity of the infection.
· Once-Daily Dosing: Typically taken once a day.
· Food: Can be taken with or without food. However, taking it with food can help reduce stomach upset.
· Complete the Course: It is vital to finish the entire prescribed course, even if you feel better. Stopping early can lead to incomplete treatment and recurrence of the infection.
· Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
