USES
Ceftriaxone 1g Injection is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the destruction of bacteria.
DOSAGE
· Dosage should be administered only by a healthcare professional
· Given by intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injection
· Dose and duration depend on type and severity of infection
· Reconstitution should be done using Water for Injection (WFI) as directed
Not effective against viral infections
INDICATIONS
Ceftriaxone 1g Injection is indicated for:
· Respiratory tract infections
· Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
· Skin and soft tissue infections
· Bone and joint infections
· Intra-abdominal infections
· Septicemia
· Meningitis
· Typhoid fever
· Gonorrhea (as prescribed)
SIDE EFFECTS
Common side effects may include:
· Pain or swelling at injection site
· Diarrhea
· Nausea
· Rash
Rare but serious side effects:
· Severe allergic reactions
· Blood disorders
· Liver or kidney function abnormalities
Immediate medical attention is required if severe reactions occur.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Ceftriaxone 1g Injection should not be used in patients with:
· Known hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone or cephalosporin antibiotics
· History of severe allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics
Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment and in neonates (as per medical advice).
STORAGE
· Store in a cool and dry place
· Protect from light and moisture
· Store below 25°C
· Keep out of reach of children
· Use reconstituted solution immediately or as directed by a physician
